You might have noticed that I’ve been a littler bit out of the picture lately, and that is because I’ve been in the last couple of months of completing my degree. Now that university is all over, I really want to focus on my blog again. So I posted a poll on my Twitter asking people what they wanted to see next, and MUA Luxe Velvet lip lacquer lip swatches was the winner!
I love these liquid lipsticks! For the price (£3 each) they are so good. They now also come in a range of colours, from nudes to brights and pastels to vampy. Recently they brought out some new shades, which I had to get, so I thought it would be the perfect time to swatch my collection.
I’d say this first shade is quite neutral and is very light, as you can probably see. Now this isn’t my usual thing – light lip colours just don’t suit me generally, and this one has to be almost the same colour as my skin tone. However, I quite like it! I think it will look great with a gloss, as this sort of looks like “concealer lips” on me, but for someone fairer than me I think it would be a great nude!
This next one is also a nude, but slightly darker and definitely more cool toned. I love this shade and I think is definitely has to be my favourite nude lipstick in my collection! This literally works with every makeup look and lasts so long!
Halcyon is a shade that MUA discontinued and have now brought back (yay). This is a bit of a weird shade as it looks like a pink-toned nude in the tube and also when you first put it on, but as it dries (as you can clearly see) it turns a sort of coral-y nude shade. Looking at other swatches online, it definitely differs on different people – with some looking more pink, and others looking more coral like this. I’m not sure if I’m that much of a fan of this, as I was hoping for a pink-nude!
This is my absolute favourite shade out of all of them, and this photo does not do it justice! It is a lovely mauve-y pink shade and is slightly darker than this picture shows it to be. This is also another new shade. I love this so much I literally don’t know what else to say! You just need this one in your life.
This is another picture that just doesn’t do this shade justice (sorry guys)! But this is definitely a true, “snow white” red. It looks orange in the pictures I took for some reason. This is absolutely gorgeous and it definitely makes you feel so good wearing this shade! This has to be a staple in my lipstick collection, it’s perfect.
All in all, these liquid lipsticks are so light weight you forget they’re even there! They can be slightly drying however, but as long as you prep your lips before hand with a lip scrub and a lip balm then they are really comfortable to wear and look great on. They also last a hell of a long time, and only wear away slightly in the middle of your lips after you have eaten, which is understandable. These also don’t crumble if you apply a second layer or apply a lipstick or gloss over the top like some other cheap liquid lipsticks, so over all, these are amazing for the price, and in my opinion are worth a lot more. Definitely all good investments into your collection.
