Ever since trying Stila’s One Step Correct, I’ve been interested in trying some more of their products. So when I saw these beauties discounted in TK Maxx, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity!
Firstly, I want to start off by saying, I was so shocked at initially finding these, and I know from past experiences, there isn’t always as many great products like there were the day I went in – quite frankly, I got lucky!
I will also warn you that the colour and product selection were very limited, so and I only picked the products/colours I thought I might use. I am, however ecstatic to add all of these to my collection! And with that, we shall begin.
The first product I found was a single eyeshadow. This is in the shade Azura and not something I would normally go for, but for the price and for the quality of this shadow, I just had to get it! The fact that I didn’t have anything like this in my collection makes it all the better. I have yet to actually use this on my eyes yet, but the swatch is just gorgeous, and I need to figure out a look to make this work for me! The fact that they are on the Stila website for £12, and I got this for £2.99 just shows how good this deal was!
After rummaging a bit more I uncovered a Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner. Now I’m not the biggest fan of crayon eyeliner, but assumed my collection needed more than just a black, so this went straight into my basket. It is definitely waterproof, I will give it that! One thing however, it is incredibly hard to twist up and takes a long time of twisting for the tiniest bit of product to pop up. At first I thought they were all broken, but then I googled it and it said they were all like this as you are unable to unwind them downwards, so to avoid wasted product, only a tiny bit at a time is released. A bit silly if you ask me, just make them so they can be wound back down.
After digging and digging through all of the beauty products, I eventually came across my favourite product of the bunch the Stay All Day waterproof liquid eye liner in the shade indigo. I am absolutely in love with this eyeliner! I want it in every colour, but especially black. The tip is perfect, you could do super thin to really thick liner looks and the pigmentation is prefect! This colour is amazing though, it’s a more teal looking navy blue, and is the perfect alternative to black, as it doesn’t look too out there, but there’s still a pop of colour.
After paying for the above products and about to walk out the store, I noticed there was a display full of beauty products at the entrance, so I stopped to have a look, just in case I’d missed anything. And I’m so glad I did! There on display were two Stila palettes.
The first one being In the Night. I’ll firstly say this one is my favourite palette out of the two, mainly because the shadows are more warm toned. There’s a mixture of matte and shimmer shades and also a Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner.
Naturally, the shimmery shades are more pigmented and smoother than the matte shades, however, these aren’t the most pigmented shadows. Don’t get my wrong, they’re very good, but sometimes lose intensity if blended too much. Reapplying with your fingers usually helps avoid this.
The next palette is the In the Garden palette which has similar, but cooler toned shadows. There’s a few more pops of colour in this palette than the first, I also think this palette is more pigmented. These shades are great for day time, and big events such as weddings etc. for that pop of colour. I don’t reach for this one as much as the first, but it’s a palette full of unique shades that I’m so happy to have in my collection.
The two palettes can work really well together as well, and the fact that they were only £10 each makes it even better! I got two for less than you can buy one normally – what a bargain!
Unfortunately, I’ve been into TK Maxx since buying these and they haven’t had as many great products like this, it really is hit or miss what they have in there. You just need to be in there at the right time, as I’ve known for them to have NARS in there, but unfortunately was extremely damaged. It also depends on your store, but is a great place for a bargain beauty buy!
