Beauty Unboxing: July Birchbox 2015

I know that I don’t end up posting about last month’s Birchbox*, and to be truly honest, I’m not sure why I didn’t… I had the post pretty much written up!

Anyway, I personally think it’s too late now, and I would much rather talk about this month’s as it’s too good for it to be too late as well!

If you’ve already received your’s, you’ll know that this month’s box was very different to any others you’ve seen or received. That’s because (for those of you who haven’t already seen) this month it was a Birchbag!

This is the first time in Birchbox’s creation that customers haven’t received it in it’s legendary box form. I don’t know about you, but I love it! It came in 4 colours, yellow (pictured), pink, blue and orange.

The first thing I’m going to talk about from this month’s box is the Balance Me Congested Skin Serum. This is a product I didn’t even know existed and was happy to receive in my box! If you’ve ever seen me talk about skincare, you’ll know that I have trouble with my pores and blackheads, and I feel like this is something that would really help! I used it one night before my moisturiser and one morning mixed with my moisturiser and I do think it made a little bit of a difference and made my skin look smoother! Whether it was from this, or all of the changes I’ve made in my skincare routine finally kicking in…

I’m a sucker for Benefit – even more so if it’s free! I’ll never pass off one of their samples, even if it is something I probably won’t use. This is their Dream Screen sun screen. It has SPF 45 and is made to go underneath moisturiser, foundation, serum, primer, any thing you could think of in your daily routine. I know I should think about sunscreen for my face everyday, but I live in Manchester (quite posssibly the rainy-est place in the UK), not LA so SPF 45 seems excessive to me! I may try this if I go on holiday though… we’ll see.

The next product is another intreging one, and I personally love products like this! It is Unani Body Treatment with aloe vera. It is made to nourish and relax skin and also helps to iemprove and moisturise burns, blemishes, eczema, bites, etc. It’s also great as a shaving balm (according to the tube). It’s a clear gel that has no scent. I’ve only tried it twice on a burn/scar and it has actually helped it heal a lot faster than it was doing by itself.

Cowshed is a brand that I’ve heard of through Birchbox (I received a body lotion last month), and their products are truly great! Their scents aren’t exactly for me, but the formula is amazing! They use a lot of essential oils, of which I hate the smell of, but the creams and lotions are always lovely and thick and extremely nourishing to the skin. This is their Cow Pat hand cream and has essential oils of grapefruit and coriander, which I feel would be great next to the kitchen sink.

This is something that I knew I would love as soon as I saw it! This eyeshadow trio by Pop Beauty is called Peach Parfait, and I am in love with the colours – perfect for summer! The actually shadows themselves are super pigmented and buttery – the swatches above are just one swipe! I haven’t actually used on my eyes them yet, but I have a feeling they’ll be amazing!
This month, I’m saving the best until last! This is the Barely Prep Blot & Blend sponge. I was happy and surprised to see this included this month, and I am actually yet to use it. It is, however, designed to apply moisturiser, primer, serums… Skincare basically. I’m actually planning on using it to apply my concealer as it is considerably smaller than the Real Techniques sponge I already own. I have a feeling it’s going to work really well as it is already soft and bouncy before being dampened.
I feel that Birchbox is continuing to the same standard each month so my subscription is going to continue until it no longer doesn’t. I do however want to try other boxes, so any suggestions you have, feel free to pop them in the comments below!
Also, if you’re interested in getting Birchbox yourself, follow this link HERE, and we will both receive 50 Birchbox points (worth £5!)
